We come across the Gledhill Electramate 2000 thermal storage unit, several times a month. Clients will usually call us after having already spent exorbitant amounts of money in getting these electric boilers repaired only to find out that six months later their having to do the same thing again.
The main problem we come across is that when they were originally fitted, many of them were not sized correctly for the property, which means users will have to use the boost facility in order to have constant heating and hot water. Which means expensive electricity bills. The design of the Gledhill Electramate 2000 was also a little to over complicated, making it difficult to work on and spare parts expensive to fit. Recently a client called from Kingsway, Finchley in London N12 requesting us to provide a quotation to replace the boiler. All of the above issues applied to this Gledhill Electramate 2000 in fact it was 30 percent undersized for the job it was required to do.
We replaced the old thermal storage unit, with a new Thermaflow TH9-330U Mrk 2 thermal storage unit, although sometimes they will be referred to as electric combination boilers, they are however thermal storage units. The installation process took a full day to complete and the client had running hot water and heating that night.
The Thermaflow electric boilers are according to the manufacturers 100% efficient can be used in conjunction with thermal solar panels, air source heat pumps as well as solid fuel burners. They are easy to install and maintain, everything is hard wired so there will be no expensive printed circuit boards to replace in the future and with a 25yr manufacturer’s warranty on the main vessel and 2 yrs warranty on the ancillary components to give the customer peace of mind. Lastly Thermaflow’s customer service is excellent in comparison to many other boiler manufacturers!
